Watching your child make their first steps is something that every Mother does not want to miss. But for this Mom, her child would never walk. She said:
“When my son was two years old, I was told by medical professionals that “he didn’t know what his legs are and has no consciousness of them”. “That was an incredibly difficult thing for a mother to hear. I started to walk him day after day, which was a very strenuous task for both of us. Out of my pain and desperation came the idea for the Upsee and I’m delighted to see it come to fruition.” This is a Cerebral Palsy walking harness.
When I saw this story, I thought of how many other Moms have come up with inventions like this. After all
“Necessity is the Mother of Invention”. Have you ever thought of an Invention, or invented one yourself. My Mother did many years ago, but she held off selling it and now things have changed a lot. As Mothers we think of things daily of how we could save time, improve our homes and make them safer for our children.
I had to write about this as it made me so happy to see. If you know of a family who has benefited from this invention, please let me know. We need more Moms and Dads to invent things like this that help more handicapped children.
Inspiration for this blog post came from:
The Upsee allows infants and small children to stand and achieve repetitive walking training with the support of an adult.
